NaNoWriMo Week Who Cares Update: I'M DONE!
The last day of NaNoWriMo Camp...it feels so unreal! I got up, began writing with Hannah, and just...finished. Typed the last words, and sat staring at my word counter. 50,077.
Then it hit me; I DID IT!!! I'M ALL DONE! FINISHED! The whole freaking novel!
So I cracked a huge grin, informed my friends proudly, and listened to "Hall of Fame" by the Script as the congratulations began to pour in....I have so many sweet friends :)
While it's a bit sad that this amazing journey has ended, I'm looking forward to my next projects, and I'll be glad to return to a less demanding schedule :) I'm so thankful for everyone who's encouraged me so much this month; I would still be sitting at 30k if it weren't for you! God has blessed me so much with this group of epic and amazing friends!
While I won't be writing another novel in August, I'll still be busy; I'm planning on getting both Hunted and this fanfiction edited, plus working on a couple shorter fanfics. Then I start college on the 26th. This summer is just flying by...
Anyway, thanks again for all the support everyone! And as the last words of my story state: "an old chapter had ended, but a new one was just beginning..."
Allons-y!

NaNoWriMo Week 3 Update!
“I’ve written because it fulfilled
me. I did it for the pure joy of the thing. And if you can do it for joy, you
can do it forever.”
I’m over halfway done now!
Honestly, I can’t believe I’ve gotten this far; I must be writing for the joy
of it. And I wouldn’t have at all if not for the support of my epic friends.
Thank you Abby, Ciara, Hannah, and Lizzy! (Oh, and I put your names in
alphabetical order so as not to show any favoritism :D).
My word count? I’m ending
tonight with 36,420. The writing has been pretty fun, since I’ve begun leading
up to my climax. Yes, I realize that I still have many more words to go, but I’ve
been told that it always takes longer to wrap things up than you think. I may
be going into some emotional parts soon, since one of my characters may or may
not be dying. I’ll keep you in suspense; if you care, that makes me happy, but
if you don’t that’s okay too.
This is a very short post, as
I was struck with a short Sherlock fanfiction idea, which I am going to go
write now.
Only nine days until camp ends!
(and then I will start blogging about something other than my writing…)

NaNoWriMo Week 2 Update!
“If you want to be a writer,
write. Write and write and write. If you stop, start again. Save everything
that your write. If you feel blocked, write through it until you feel your
creative juices flowing again. Write. Writing is what makes a writer, nothing
more and nothing less.”
Anne Rice
I have survived week two!
This makes me extremely happy, as I’m told it’s the hardest week of all. Now,
the fact that I survived does not mean I didn’t meet some literary difficulty the last
few days…but if this is the hardest it gets, I’m doing pretty good.
Lack of motivation and two
sleepovers led to not so many words being written, but I’m finishing the week
with a total count of 22,369. So I’m still right on track! Just hoping my plot
will cooperate with the 27,631 words I have still to pen.
This is a very short post, as
I must go write; haven’t written one word yesterday or today. But I was able to
hang out with some epic friends, and converted Hannah to the Star Trek fandom!
We went to see Into Darkness this
afternoon, and she officially pronounced herself a Trekkie! Yay!
Plotting along,
~Kelly

NaNoWriMo Week 1 Update!
“There’s something delicious
about writing the first few words of a story. You can never quite tell where
they will take you.”
Beatrix Potter
Well, I’m still alive. That's good sign, right? Anyway, it was a great week one! I’ve been having
lots of fun crafting the beginnings of my fanfiction. And as far as word count
goes, I’m finishing today with over 16,000! But they tell me that the first week is always the easiest, so I'm anticipating the level of emotional turmoil to elevate in the next few days...
The above quote has been very
true for me this week; on Monday, I tasted the deliciousness of writing those
first few words. As the days progressed, my story took me to places I’d never
imagined! It’s been quite an exhilarating experience.
On Friday, I had quite the
writing marathon with my friend Hannah. We wrote while listening to the
soundtracks from the whole prequel trilogy of Star Wars. She’s doing a Star
Wars fanfiction too, so the music theme was quite appropriate. I got almost
4,000 words that day alone!
I hope y'all had a great Independence Day! I have a great story to tell about the 4th of July, but unfortunately haven't the time right now. But if you're a fan of the BBC Sherlock TV show, stay tuned!
Until next week,
~Kelly, ready to take on the world!

I'm Going on an Adventure!
Although I’m sadly not going anywhere with Bilbo, I am going
on a month long adventure beginning July 1st. It is unlike anything I’ve ever
attempted before, and I am anticipating that it will test my patience and shake
my emotional endurance to the core.
What is this adventure?
National Novel Writing Month Camp!
National Novel Writing Month
(www.nanowrimo.org) is technically in November, but they do “camps” during the
summer, and it’s essentially doing the same thing, only in July. What exactly
will I be doing? Attempting to write a 50,000 word novel in one month! …Yerp.
Since I finished the first draft
of my novel Hunted this last week (!!!!!!!!),
I am starting a new project, a Star Wars fanfiction starring the epic Ben
Skywalker. If you don’t know who he is, seriously go read the expanded universe
books, they’re amazing. If you don’t have time right now, I’ll tell you that Ben
is the son of Luke Skywalker and his wife Mara Jade. I might *cough* have a little bit of a fictional character crush
on him…which is why I am writing a full length fanfiction about him ;)
I
will try to give ya’ll short weekly updates during July. You might find it
entertaining to observe my emotional swings and how I cope when my plot isn’t
cooperating :P I have a couple of amazing friends accompanying me in this
quest, so wish us all luck!
Until
the end of week one…
~Mrs.

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...
Yeah, we both know how this is gonna end, but nevertheless: SUPERMAN!

Today, I went to go see Man of Steel with my dad, and it was really good! I love superhero movies, but have rarely emerged from the realm of the Avengers franchise. While those shall forever remain my favorite, Man of Steel was entertaining, and the acting was very captivating. Not knowing much about the story of Superman beforehand made the plot unpredictable and kept my attention the whole way through. Oh, and if you're planning on watching the movie and don't want to have any minor spoilers, I'd advise that you stop reading :P But I won't reveal anything major, I promise.
The movie begins on Krypton, where the planet is facing an unstoppable disaster. To save his life, Kal-El is sent by his parents to earth. He grows up as Clark Kent, unaware of his alien parentage, but knowing that something about him is different. Like the glowing red eyes. And the incredible Hulk-like strength. I mean seriously, the kid pushed a sinking bus out of the water. He later meets Lois Lane, who is played by Amy Adams. I have to admit, her presence in this movie was partly the reason I went to go see it; Amy is one of my favorite actresses, and she didn't disappoint. Then again, I've always had a weakness for people with red hair.
I won't elaborate further on the plot, as I want you to go see if for yourself :) But I will say that I enjoyed Man of Steel immensely. And heck, if you don't, it's still a couple hours watching Henry Cavill fly around in a fairly tight superhero suit :D I swear, his face has muscles...
If I had anything negative to say, it would be concerning the flashbacks. Now, I've always been told as a writer to only use flashbacks when absolutely necessary; that the audience is more interested in the here and now, and a flashback only slows down the pace of the story. Man of Steel contained quite a bit of back story that was explained through Clark's flashbacks. While most of this information was needed for the plot to make sense, there seemed to be just too many flashbacks, especially towards the beginning. We bounced back and forth between eras of Clark's life for long enough that I began to get a bit dizzy.
Nevertheless, I would recommend Man of Steel. If any of you guys have seen it, please comment and let me know what you thought. I am now going to finish watching The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey with my grandma. Well, and my grandpa and aunt, but they're asleep :)
Until next time the world needs saving,

Welcome!
Greetings and salutations!
Welcome to my blog. My name is Kelly, and as you can tell from the title, I am
a geek, and I love it! But even more importantly, I am a born again Christian, and
God has given me the gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. God has
changed my life, and without Him, I am nothing. So, whoever you are, I want to
tell you that God has a plan just for YOU! He loves you very much, and wants to
be in a relationship with you.
Back to the geekiness…I am a
Jedi Master, Whovian, Trekkie, Ringer, Mockingjay, Avenger, Sherlockian, member
of SG-1, and Narnian. Yes, I have many fandoms. Yes, I obsess over them (‘tis
why I have created this blog :D Although there may be a few ungeeky posts).
While this isn’t really geeky, ya’ll should know I am a country girl, and am
quite obsessed with country music.
I am also an aspiring writer,
working to glorify God and point people to Him through my work. Even though I’m
just getting started, I really enjoy the art of crafting stories, and I create
both original tales and fanfiction. If any of you are more experienced authors, please
feel free to give me any advice you might have!
Well, I think that’s all the
important stuff! I’m really looking forward to geeking out with you in the
future (or whenever…it’s all wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey…)
Allons-y,
May the Force be with you,
Live long and prosper,
May the odds be ever in your
favor,
And God bless!
~Kelly
